just returned from a vacation to see one of the worst cards (at least in terms of quality of the horse flesh) i've ever witnessed at del mar. all horses up for sale here.

going to post as we go, if anybody is around this lazy monday afternoon.

r1: cinema star. i think native approval is very very beatable in here and this son of silver charm gets his easiest spot to date in here. at 2/1 or better, i'm playing to win.

hey, cinema star ran home greenly, but powerfully to win. maiden native approval is a trial horse whom you should play against every time.

r2: not much to offer here. may take a stab with #2, Five Rivers, who goes first off the claim for ian jory. i'd back smokette, but victor abandons for sky reality, who is dropping out of the lowest level allowance condition on turf.

on to race 3. the mullins trainee, master diesgner is taking all the money, and while that one is bred to run long, his only route try was a severe fade at hollywood last month. he may win, but at 7/5, you have to be crazy to bet a horse like him with shaky form and dropping to the very bottom for maiden 25s. i'll probably make a small play on novel idea, who is marooned on the far outside with jojo steiner. 'idea ran a better than looked fourth behind runaway winner awesome dividend. hate the post, but he's 6/1 right now, and that's enough to entice me for a small play.

jojo made it interesting, but novel idea finally got through to win at a very nice 6/1. well, on to race 4..

we have an odds-on mullins dropper. what a surprise. at 4/5 you can have kid royal who is obviously on his way down down down the ladder. i like two horses, roll over roy who is a first time gelding for wesley ward and lord bancho, a first time import for alfredo marquez. i'm playing both of them and leaving the favorite out of the exotics.

well, sometimes the mullins' droppers will tear your head off at 3/5....

on to race 5: i initially like the entry as joe on the aisle had a ton of trouble for first time starter. the entry is 5/2 right now, which is a little short for me, but if they drift north of 3/1, i'll play. the other one who intrests me a little bit is silver edge. this son of silver ray goes for craig lewis, who rarely wins with firsters, but when he strikes, he strikes at big prices. 'ray was a very very talented runner for the wygods, i believe, but was oft-injured and never fulfilled his promise. 'edge shows good works and i hope he breaks well with the somewhat below-average valdivia, who for whatever reason, doesn't get his horses out of the gate very well....

good luck g. i like irish ides in this the "feature" - 7th race:

irish ides goes to the clever cerin barn and like his chances in here very much.

race8: lady of style. obviously cherokee spires is the one to beat as sise is a monster with second time starters and gets the leading man, tyler baze. i like 'style, who is sure to show speed for machowsky and will likely be twice the price of 'spires.
